I am sure I am not the first parent who has had to try and keep a struggling child steady while waiting 2+ minutes for the thermometer to register a reading. In this regard, the Braun ThermoScan is ideal. It takes an accurate ear reading in just a few seconds! The probe also does not feel cold to the touch, so my child actually seems to like having her temperature taken. The only drawback so far is that the LCD panel is not back-lit. It is impossible to see the reading in the semi-darkness, and one has to go to a light source to check the measurement. Otherwise, a great product.

I also ordered this for our niece, and her new baby. She is a nurse in the nurseries and she specifically wanted this item. She was very happy to get this. I don't have any babies around any more, but I think I would like to have this for us. The box was smashed up a little in the shipping, but the thermometer was okay. I didn't have time to send it back and get another one or I would certainly have done so. But since the thermometer was fine and Mom didn't care, I will let it go this time. Otherwise pleased with it.

I had initially bought a temporal thermometer which was more expensive as it was recommended by a friend but it was hard to use with a fussy baby and toddler. If the child is not feeling good, they wont let you take the reading accurately as they keep moving their head. Just for this reason I bought this ear thermometer. Anyway my kid is used to me cleaning her ears with an earbud, so she didnt mind when I put this in her ear to get the temperature. With the temporal she kept lifting her head when I was taking her temperature to see what is it that I had sticking to her forhead. The ear thermometer eliminates that problem. I would recommend this to new parents.
